What CSPO Actually Is? CSPO is a certification offered through Scrum Alliance, earned by attending an in-person or live virtual course taught by a Certified Scrum Trainer (CST). Unlike some certifications, there's no separate exam — completing the course itself grants the certification, which surprises people who expect a harder gate at the end. CSPO vs. CSM: How They're Different These two get confused constantly because they're often taken by people on the same team, sometimes in the same week of training. CSM (Certified ScrumMaster) focuses on facilitating the Scrum process itself — running ceremonies, removing blockers, protecting the team's focus, coaching the team on Scrum practices.
